We are looking for singers who wish to promote peace and jsutice through the sharing of music and ideas locally and globally. We especially seek tenors and basses!
Travel with us in June, 2011 to Israel and Palestine to sing and support the thousands of people there working for peace every day.
Join us as we sing the most exciting music in chroal
repertoire this year...
in the fall, we will sing the Missa Luba, a Latin
mass based on traditional Congolese music, and accompanied
by drummers and marimba players. In spring,
Beethoven's Ode to Joy from the Ninth Symphony will
be part of our concert, as well as a
capella pieces
that celebrate peace, justice, and freedom, songs
that we will take to Israel and Palestine.
Sing and make a difference in the world - join the Seattle Peace Chorus!
To schedule an audition, please contact Pat
at pclayt23@clearwire.net.
Provide your name, describe your singing experience,
any formal training you might have had (formal
training is not a requirement), and also describe
any prior affiliation you might have had with the
Seattle Peace Chorus. Finally, list phone numbers
and
e-mail so that Pat can contact you.
Auditions will test your voice quality and pitch ability. While the ability to read music is important, the ability to read it well is not.
Rehearsals are Monday nights from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Wallingford District. Extra rehearsals are scheduled as needed.
Rehearsals run from September through November and January through May. There are no rehearsals in December or over the summer months.
Anyone is welcome to drop in on a Monday night rehearsal to get a sense of the chorus and preview the works in progress. Contact info@seattlepeacechorus.org for the rehearsal location.
Dues are $235 for the full season (September through June) and are pro-rated for singers who join mid-season. Payment plans can readily be arranged. Work trades in lieu of dues are also an option.
